On 1 November 2026, Kimi Antonelli became the youngest Formula 1 World Champion in history.

He is just 20 years and 68 days old.

Five days later, he will climb back into his Mercedes at one of the loudest, most emotional and most recognisable circuits on the calendar.

Interlagos.

The São Paulo Grand Prix begins on 6 November, meaning Brazil gets the first race weekend of a new chapter in Formula 1: Kimi Antonelli is no longer the teenager Mercedes took a chance on.

He arrives as World Champion.

And that makes this weekend about much more than another Grand Prix.

The Record That Sebastian Vettel Held for 16 Years

Until Mexico City, the benchmark belonged to Sebastian Vettel.

Vettel was 23 years and 134 days old when he won his first championship with Red Bull in 2010.

Antonelli has lowered that record by more than three years.

He secured the championship with third place at the Mexico City Grand Prix, behind Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton, in only his second Formula 1 season.

The numbers behind the campaign make the speed of his rise even more remarkable.

Antonelli has won nine Grands Prix in 2026. Earlier in the season he became F1's youngest Grand Prix polesitter, the youngest driver to lead the World Championship and the youngest winner of the Monaco Grand Prix.

He also became the first driver born in the 2000s to win the World Championship.

From Doubts to World Champion in One Season

What makes Antonelli's championship more interesting than the age record alone is what happened before it.

His 2025 rookie season was difficult.

There were stretches without points. There were mistakes. There were questions over whether Mercedes had promoted him too quickly.

Toto Wolff has since acknowledged that people doubted whether Antonelli was ready for Formula 1 at all.

Mercedes did not move away from him.

The team trusted the same driver who had developed through its junior programme, and 2026 produced one of the fastest transformations Formula 1 has seen.

China brought his first Grand Prix pole and victory.

Japan put him at the top of the championship.

Monaco made him the youngest winner in the history of that famous race.

Then came Monza, where the Bologna-born driver won in front of the Italian crowd and became the first Italian to win his home Grand Prix since Ludovico Scarfiotti in 1966.

Mexico completed the story.

Now the Champion Comes to Brazil

This is where the timing becomes particularly interesting for Brazilian F1 supporters.

The paddock barely has time to absorb Mexico before Formula 1 moves directly to São Paulo.

Practice begins at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace on Friday, 6 November. Qualifying follows on Saturday, with the 71-lap São Paulo Grand Prix scheduled for Sunday, 8 November.

Interlagos will therefore be Antonelli's first event as Formula 1 World Champion.

Brazil has always understood what a World Championship means differently.

This is the country of Ayrton Senna, Nelson Piquet and Emerson Fittipaldi. Interlagos is also where Lewis Hamilton won his first title in extraordinary circumstances in 2008.

Now another young champion arrives with history already attached to his name.

Mercedes still has work to do too. The Drivers' Championship is secured, but the team has made clear that its attention now turns towards finishing the job in the Constructors' Championship.

When F1 Teamwear Becomes Part of the Moment

Formula 1 clothing occupies an interesting space in sportswear.

Unlike a soccer shirt, it is not a match uniform in the traditional sense.

Instead, team shirts sit between paddock uniform, sponsor canvas, technical sportswear and supporter identity.

That becomes particularly noticeable when a championship changes how a season is remembered.

Mercedes' current visual identity centres on black, white, silver and the unmistakable PETRONAS turquoise. The dense collection of partner marks across the chest and sleeves gives modern F1 teamwear a completely different graphic language from most other sports.

The black design adds a subtle geometric pattern across the body, while the white version creates a cleaner contrast between the Mercedes, AMG, PETRONAS and partner graphics.

Al'sportswear currently lists its own Mercedes Formula 1 Team Shirt – Black and Mercedes Formula 1 Team Shirt – White.

Both were listed at A$65 when checked on 2 November 2026, giving supporters in Australia an immediate way to connect the current Mercedes look with one of the most important seasons in the team's modern history.

Why This Championship Changes the Mercedes Shirt Story

Sportswear often becomes memorable because of what happened while it was being worn.

Nobody needs a shirt to be officially labelled “historic” for supporters to associate it with a particular season.

Images do that work.

Antonelli celebrating in Mercedes colours, the Italian flag around his shoulders, the World Champion graphics behind him and the black W17 beneath him are now permanent visual references for 2026.

That gives this generation of Mercedes teamwear a story it did not have at the beginning of the season.

It is now connected with the youngest World Champion in Formula 1 history.

Expert Verdict: This Feels Like the Beginning, Not the Ending

The age record is spectacular, but it should not distract from the more important part of Antonelli's season.

He did not simply inherit the fastest car and survive.

He converted poles, won repeatedly, delivered under pressure and rebuilt his reputation after a difficult rookie year.

Winning at 20 also changes the scale of what may come next.

Antonelli has potentially many seasons ahead of him, but there is no guarantee that early success automatically becomes a decade of dominance. Formula 1 changes too quickly for that.

What can already be said is simpler:

Formula 1 has a new World Champion, and he has reached the summit earlier than anyone before him.

Collector Verdict

Neither the black nor white Mercedes team shirt should be treated as a guaranteed limited collectible unless a specific product is officially confirmed as such.

Their interest is different.

Teamwear becomes culturally stronger when supporters can attach it to a moment.

The Mercedes look of 2026 is now linked with Antonelli's first World Championship, a record that may stand for decades or may one day be broken again.

Either way, supporters will always be able to look back at the photographs from Mexico City and know exactly which Mercedes era they are seeing.

And this weekend, that era rolls into Brazil for the first time with its champion already crowned.
